Adeline Katherine Bauman - April 03, 2014Juniata resident, Adeline Katherine Bauman, 78, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Memorial Community Care, Aurora, Nebraska.
Services will be held at a later date at Juniata United Methodist Church, Juniata. Burial will be held at a later date in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata. Visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2014 with family present 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Start Over Rover or Juniata United Methodist Church. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
Adeline was born at home on April 25, 1935 in Corner Township, Custer County, to Charlie and Rosie (Cadek) Fajmon. She grew up an only child on the family farm. Adeline spoke only Czech when she started school at Shady Hollow District #154, a rural Custer County School. She completed 8th grade and then continued her education at Burwell High School. Adeline met Carl Bauman at Burwell High School. After they each had graduated from high school, they were married on Sept. 6, 1953, at the Congregational Church by the Reverend E. K. Bauman, Carl’s father. From this union, 4 daughters were born: Cathy Lee, Betty Jane, Patricia Elaine, and Sherry Ann. The family moved to Juniata in 1964. In 1969, Adeline started her career with the U.S. Postal Service in Juniata and also worked at the Hastings and Grand Island Post Offices before retiring in 1997. Adeline was an active member of the Juniata United Methodist Church, the UMW Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), the Southern Central Nebraska Czech Society, and the Czech Western Bohemian Fraternal Organization (CZBJ). In 2010, Adeline received her 75 year membership pin from the CZBJ.
Adeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; and daughter, Cathy.
Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law: Betty Jane Bower-Hansen (Art Hansen) – Kearney; Patricia Elaine Sandberg (John) – Aurora; Sherry Grant (Stacy) – Friend; Special Friend: Dale Mau – Juniata; grandchildren: Christopher P. Bower, Jessica A. Rose, Jennifer J. Stortenbecker, Abraham M. Sandberg, Meredith Q. Killion, Luke W. Hall, Charlie W. Chase; great-grandchildren: Emily J. Wymore, Zildjian R. Sandberg, Zeppelin D. Sandberg, Kalynn E. Stortenbecker, Mason A. Stortenbecker, Gracelyn P. Chase and Hannah R. Killion.
