Jerry Haack, Sr. - April 02, 2014Jerry Haack, Sr., age 77, of Aurora passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at home with family in Aurora.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 7 at Assembly of God Church. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery in Hastings at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Jerry Sherman Haack, Sr., the son of Herman Gustav and Neva Alice (Stanley) Haack, was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska on March 18, 1937 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on April 2, 2014, at the age of 77.
He graduated from Brewster High School in Kansas. Jerry joined the military in 1954 and was stationed in Germany, when Germany became free. While serving in the military, Jerry began a career that would last his entire life. He learned to be an over the road truck driver.
Jerry was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Butterbaugh on January 9, 1960 at the First Christian Church in Hastings, where they made their home and had three boys and three girls. They later moved to the Hamilton County area and that is where they spent most of their married life. Phyllis passed away on Aug. 20, 2005. At that time Jerry moved in with his daughter and her family in Florida until moving back to Aurora in March 2014.
Jerry was a member of Assembly of God Church in Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, June Arlene Haack, three brothers, Ronald Lee Haack, Leonard Haack and David Haack; sister-in-law, Mary Haack; brother-in-law, Bob Scribner and son-in-law, James Worth.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Michael (Sheryl) Haack of Hastings, David Haack of Harvard and Jerry Sherman (Hilarie) Haack, Jr. of Woodbine, Georgia; three daughters, Leslie (Bob) Worth of Bonita Springs, Florida, Rebecca (Tim) Bussinger of Aurora and Carol Haack of Grand Island; 19 grandchildren, John (Eden) Haack, Megan Haack and Gary Kendall, Gage Haack, Amanda (RJ) Barber, Theresa Haack and Chris Frink, Steven (Brianna) Haack, Grant (Laura) Alber, Travis (Tiffany) Stevens, Tiffany (Judson) Gatch, Tara (Wayne) Smith, Cassie Haack, Jerry Sherman Haack, III, Josh Worth, George Worth, Rose (Grady) Stromer, Jean (Jared) Loudy, Jon Bussinger, Crystal Berney and Brandon Berney; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Stan Haack, Sr. of Hastings; sister-in-law, Marilyn Scribner of Hastings; special family friends, Bernadette Kasmanchy, Grover and Pam Camp, Robin Belles, Lauri McDonald, Lee Brown, Doug Stevens and Robert Berney and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
