Darlene Ackerman - March 17, 2014

Darlene Ackerman, age 86, of Aurora, formerly of Stockham, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Bob Gannon will officiate. Interment will be in the Stockham Cemetery at 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Darlene Elizabeth Ackerman, the daughter of John Melchor and Elizabeth (Knobel) Hefty, Jr., was born on the family farm near Stockham, Nebraska on January 24, 1928 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on March 17, 2014, at the age of 86.
Darlene was born, raised and lived on the family farm homesteaded by her grandparents and lived there almost her entire life. She attended school at District 2 and graduated from Stockham High School. After graduation she continued to help her parents on the farm. With the passing of her father, she married Albert Ackerman on December 2, 1958. They continued the farming operation until 2011 when she and Albert moved to Aurora, where they resided at the time of her death.
Darlene enjoyed life on the farm, traveling locally and spending time with friends and family. She had a special love for cats and provided food, shelter and attention to many over her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, May Ruth Risden, Edith Marie Heinen and at infancy Betty Lou Hefty.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Albert of Aurora and numerous nieces and nephews.
