Alicia Harvey - March 15, 2014Alicia Harvey, 36, of Seward, formerly of Giltner, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, after a long hard fought battle against cancer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 19 at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A Street, Aurora. Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Aurora United Methodist Church. In honor of Alicia’s love for the Huskers, feel free to wear Husker attire to visitation. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Alicia Lynn Obermeier Harvey, the daughter of Monte and Susan (Wendt) Obermeier, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on March 4, 1978 and passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on March 15, 2014, at the age of 36.
Alicia grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1996, and from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2000. After graduating from UNL, she worked at The Fort, Gotcha Covered and was currently a purchasing agent for the Engineering Department at UNL.
Alicia was united in marriage to Doug Harvey on April 26, 2003. They had two sons, Jackson and Nathan, and made their home in Seward.
Alicia was an avid scrap booker, loved sports, especially the Huskers, and camping in the summer with her family. She loved planning family vacations for her family and birthday parties for her children. Alicia was involved with Cub Scouts and was active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, Greg Obermeier and grandfather, Jerold Wendt.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Doug of Seward; two sons, Jackson and Nathan of Seward; parents, Monte and Sue Obermeier of Giltner; brother, Erik (Ridhi) Obermeier of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Kelsey (Heath) Vrbka of Rising City; nephews and niece, Coy, Jett, Nash and Beau Vrbka, Carli and Logan Hauf; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Cindy Harvey of Aurora; sister-in-law, Kim Harvey; grandparents, Bonita Wendt, Melvin and Maryellen Obermeier, all of Giltner; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
