John Stanley Edgar - February 04, 2014John Stanley Edgar, son of John Stanley Edgar and Pheobe Jean Roy was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada on August 17, 1941 and passed away in Lexington, Ky. at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Feb. 4, 2014 at the age of 73 after a long fight with cancer.
John grew up in St. Catharines, in the Niagara Peninsula, and was educated at Ridley College, the St. Catharines Collegiate Institute and Vocational School and the Chatham, Ontario High School before his graduation from the Detroit Institute of Technology with degrees in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering.
On Aug. 28, 1965, he was married to Ellen Judith (Judy) McQueen in St Catharines at Grace Anglican Church.
He was first employed by the Canadian Division of the Ford Motor Company in Windsor, Ontario. In 1969, John and his new family immigrated to the USA, to Atlanta, Georgia where he began a 25 year career in the Manufactured Housing Industry in the corporate offices of DivcoWayne Corporation. Over the years he designed, built or managed approximately eight state- of- the- art manufacturing facilities in several states, for different companies and was proud of the employment opportunities he created.
In 1994 he began a new career in the automotive financial field before he retired in 2001.
John enjoyed Nebraska football, UK basketball, boating and fishing, golf, reading, Military History, especially Naval, Air Force and World War II. His favorite author was Sir Winston Churchill.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Judy of Lexington; three daughters, Amy Lynn Allen (Patrick) of Houston, Texas, Tamara Ann Heller (Daniel) of Lexington, Kentucky and Wendy Sue Hechemy (Jeff) of Berea, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jackson Allen and Shay Allen of Houston, Texas, Chase Hechemy, Cameron Hechemy, and Carlie Hechemy of Berea, Kentucky, six cousins in Canada.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
Funeral Service/Life Celebration will be held at Milward-Man O’ War- 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington, Ky. 40515, on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Internment will occur at a later time.
