Lucile W. Omel - January 24, 2014Lucile W. Omel, age 85, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Gary Dudder will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Lucile Wilma Omel, the daughter of Raymond and Marie Van Norman, was born in Montana on April 1, 1928 and passed away in Aurora, Nebr. on Jan. 24, 2014, at the age of 85.
She grew up in Montana and at a young age the family moved to Sterling, Colorado where she lived on the family farm and attended country school through the 8th grade. Lucile worked as a telephone operator until her marriage.
On May 1, 1961, she was united in marriage to Jerry Omel at Sterling, Colorado. After their marriage, they moved to Aurora where Lucile continued to work for the telephone company. Lucile later worked for Penney’s and Parkers on the Square for many years.
Lucile was a member of the First Christian Church. She also volunteered for the monthly Bloodmobile and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. She loved bowling, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her flowers and garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Isabel Van Norman and a brother at a young age.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry of Aurora; three children, David (Lorraine) Franson of Sterling, Colorado, Valerie (Ron) Peery of Denton and Skeeter (Kay) Omel of Giltner and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
