Arlene Miller - July 03, 2009

Arleen M. Miller, 89 of York, died Friday, July 3, 2009 at Utica, following a brief illness.
She was born March 6, 1920 at Hampton to John and Anna (Schaepler) Wall. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School in 1937.
Arleen graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Grand Island in May of 1941. She was married to Maurice D. Miller on Feb. 14, 1942, at Pasadena, Calif. She lived in Pasadena for two years and Hampton for two years while Maurice was in the Army, serving during WWII. Following his discharge in 1946, they moved to York where Arleen has since resided.
Arleen worked in her nursing career until retiring in 1985. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in York, the LWML, Singles Club, Baker’s Dozen, Friendship Club and Pitch Marathon group. She also did volunteer work at York Middle School and spent many volunteer hours at the York Senior Center.
Survivors include: one daughter, Beccy (Don) Schultze of Seward; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arleen is also survived by a sister, Wanda (Willard) Klawonn of Hampton, brother-in-law, Norm (Pat) Miller from California, four nephews and one niece. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, infant son Richard, daughter Sandra, and sister Lilah.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 6, at Faith Lutheran Church in York followed by burial at Plainfield Cemetery near Bradshaw.
