Jess B. Jackson - December 15, 2013

Jess B. Jackson, age 85, of Aurora, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Fr. Dennis Hunt will officiate. Interment will be in Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Jess B. Jackson Jr., the son of Jess B. and Luneal L. (Olson) Jackson, was born in Aurora on Oct. 14, 1928.
Jess grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1946 and entered the U.S. Navy that same year. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1950. Jess served on Saipan, Marianas Island; Kwajalein, Marshall, Island; Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Madrid, Spain; Panama Canal Zone; Guam, Marianas Island and various Bases in the United States. Jess retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969 after 23 years of military service.
Jess was united in marriage to Mary Anne Size on April 24, 1965, at St. Margaret of Scotland in St. Louis, Mo. Jess joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1970 at St. Louis, Mo., retiring in 1987 for medical reasons. They moved back to Aurora in 1989.
Jess was a member of the V.F.W, American Legion and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was interested in organic gardening, baking sourdough bread and empanadas, family genealogy and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Anne of Aurora; two sons, Christopher J. (Joy) Jackson of Papillion and Patrick J. (Yuki) Jackson of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Elisabeth and Rebecca.
