Donald Sundberg - January 06, 2009

Former Aurora resident Donald Sundberg, 88, of Lincoln, died Jan. 6, 2009.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 6 at 10 a.m. in Lincoln Memorial Old Chapel, Gate 2, 6700 South 14th Street in Lincoln. Inurnment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.
Donald Merle Sundberg was born July 6, 1920 to Cedric and Nellie (Akerson) Sundberg in Aurora.
He graduated from Aurora High School in 1938,Lincoln School of Commerce in 1939 and UNL Civil Engineering College in 1949.
He married Ruth Arlene “Connie” Brockman on Aug. 12, 1947, at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Denver, Colo. They had three children.
He was a retired civil engineer USDA SCS, veteran of World War II and the Korean War, member of American Legion Post #3, Voiture 103 40 et 8, VFW Post 131, Sigma Tau, Lincoln Engineers Club, UNL Alumni Association., ABC Lincoln Men’s Bowling Hall of Fame and member and past treasurer of Christ Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Judy (Paul) Martin of Overland Park, Kan. and Dr. Jane Sundberg of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; one son, Steve (Chi) Sundberg of Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Dr. Norman (Donna) Sundberg of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie.
Memorials are directed to Tabitha of Lincoln.
