Golda Follmer - August 09, 2013

Golda Follmer, 100, of Aurora was called to her heavenly home on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Memorial Community Care Center in Aurora.
Family prayer service and private family graveside burial were Monday. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Pastor Curt Holsworth will officiate.

Golda Snyder was born Feb. 10, 1913 to William and Rosa (Schmitt) Snyder at Oak. She attended country school and graduated from Nelson High School in 1931.
On Feb. 25, 1936, she married Ralph Follmer who had proposed to her by mail. They lived on numerous farms in Nebraska. After leaving the farm, they lived in a mobile home, and moved it to the various towns in Nebraska and Wyoming. The oldest three children were born at home. In Golda’s younger years she loved working, especially outdoors. In fact, she worked right beside Ralph on the farm. She drove tractors, milked cows, raised pigs and chickens, and had a huge garden. After moving from the farm, she worked at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, grocery stores and many years in the cafeteria at Saint Francis Hospital in Grand Island. She retired at the age of 80. Golda enjoyed life and her passions were her family, playing cards, crossword puzzles, crocheting afghans and her garden.
Survivors include her children: Joanne Dodson, Ariz. Jeanie (Jerry) Kingsley, Aurora, Bob (Jane) Follmer, Ohio, Marilyn (Les) Schlitt, Colo., Joyce (Matt) Aquiar, Singapore; grandchildren Shelly Dodson, Pam Dodson, David Dodson, Mike (Michelle) Kingsley, Jim (Kelly) Kingsley, Doug Follmer, Jessie Follmer, RaeLynn Smith, Penn Schlitt, Rachel Aquiar, Nathan Aquiar, Sean Aquiar; great-grandchildren: Jeff Kingsley, Maggie Kingsley, Molly Kingsley, Lauren Schuster, Shayla Schuster, Jaydon Smith, Jacquline Smith, Zach Abramson; sisters-in-law: Verla Snyder, Muriel Follmer, Bernita Follmer; and brothers-in-law: Joe Troia and Ben Crifasi.
Golda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph in 1978; several brother and sisters; brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Kent Dodson; great-granddaughter, Kacey Kingsley and great-grandson, Mitch Kingsley.
