Michael Mell - June 03, 2013Michael Mell, 47, of Ogallala, died Monday, June 3, 2013 at Clarkson Medical Center in Omaha.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ogallala United Methodist Church with Pastor Chuck Rager, officiating. Cremains will be buried in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Michael Mell was born on Nov. 13, 1965, at Ogallala. He was the youngest of five children born to Haley and Verna Brown Mell of Arthur. He grew up in the Arthur community and graduated from Arthur High School in 1984. Mike attended Kearney State College for a brief period before he moved to Denver where he began his working career.
Mike was married to Michelle Trumbull of Tryon on June 1, 1991, at North Platte. Two daughters were born to this union. They made their home in Denver until 1997 when they moved to Ogallala where Mike was hired by the City of Ogallala as the street superintendent. Mike had developed a liver problem in early May and had been moved to the Clarkson Medical Center in Omaha where he died on Monday, June 3, 2013. He had reached the age of 47.
Mike enjoyed being out of doors and liked to hunt, fish, and playing a round of golf. He was a sports fan and followed the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Green Bay Packers, and watching his daughters in their sporting activities for Ogallala.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by one brother, Craig Strong and one sister, Cynthia Mell.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle of Ogallala; 2two daughters, Sidney and Shawna at home; his cat, Butterscotch; two sisters, Sheryl (Bruce) Hall of Aurora and Vicky (Dale) Gayman of North Platte; his father and mother-in-law, Larry and Helen Trumbull of Tryon; four brothers-in-law, Rodney, Rick (Rosanne), Roger (Kim), and Mark (Stacey) Trumbull; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
In lieu-of-flowers, a memorial has been established for the future education of his daughters. The family requests Husker, Packers or Ogallala Indian attire be worn to the service.
