Lorene Wendt - May 29, 2009

Lorene Wendt, 88, of York, died Sunday, May 24, 2009 at York.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 29, at the First United Church in York with the Revs. Art Phillips and Jeff Wulf officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Harvard Cemetery in Harvard.
Visitation begins after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at the mortuary.
She was born Aug. 31, 1920 at Harvard to Merle V. and Nellie Mae (Farmer), Farmer. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1937 and then attended one year at Kearney State College where she attained her teaching certificate. She taught at Eldorado for one year. She was then a part-time file clerk at the York Medical Clinic from 1975 until her retirement in 1990.
On April 17, 1945 she was married to Vernon H. Wendt at Beloit, Kan.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in York and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed dancing and was in a pinochle club as well. She also loved being with her family, attending all of their activities.
She is survived by her son Dr. (Patricia) Stephen Wendt of Fremont; three daughters Karen (Jerry) Snodgrass of York, Shirley (Robert) Milton of Friend and Mary (Russ) Kuhn of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Leila Spicer of Everton, Mo. and Doris (Joe) Dye of LaVista; 10 grandchildren, Bryan Snodgrass of Lincoln, Steph Snodgrass of York, Bobbi Milton of Las Vegas, Nev., Stacey Snodgrass of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gina (Todd) Johnson of Friend, LeAnne (Matt) Parr of Omaha, Mike Wendt of Fremont, Jeff and (Sara) Kuhn of Beemer, Trisha (Josh) Berry of Lincoln and Tom Wendt of Fremont; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two granddaughters, Lori Ann Milton and Kayla Marie Wendt and her sister Hazel Yost.
