Rich Parsons - April 29, 2013Rich L. Parsons, 56, a lifelong resident of the Hordville area, died at his home on Monday, April 29, 2013.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 3. at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Dick Bauer officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lindale Cemetery near Hordville.

Rich was born on Feb. 28, 1957, in Grand Island to E.N. “Pars” and Shirley M. (Jones) Parsons. He grew up in the Hordville area and graduated from Hordville High School in 1975. On Aug. 27, 1977, Rich was united in marriage to Rhea J. Shoup at the United Presbyterian Church in Central City. Rich and Rhea made their home near Hordville, where Rich was a self-employed carpenter. Rich also worked for Solt Funeral Home from 1980 to 1997. Rich obtained his insurance license and has been an insurance agent for Bankers Life and Casualty since 1997.
Rich grew up in and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hordville and was currently attending the Evangelical Free Church in Polk. Rich enjoyed hunting, spending time at the lake and Husker football. Rich loved his work and he was a people person; but his greatest love was for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Rhea of Hordville; two sons, Shane (Katie) Parsons and Preston Parsons and fiance Kati Wright all of Omaha; two grandsons, Graham and Deacon Parsons; his mother-in-law, Rogene Shoup of Central City; sister-in-law, Karla Blase and family of Gothenburg and Kim and Kris Shoup and family of Hordville.
He was preceded in death by his father, E.N. “Pars” Parsons in 1999, his mother, Shirley Parsons in 1995; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Clara Jones; and his father-in-law, Emmett Shoup.
