Boyd Jones - March 12, 2013

Boyd Dee Jones, 100, of Sun City, Ariz., died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Sun City.
The funeral was held March 16, at Sunland Mortuary Lakeside Chapel in Sun City, Ariz. Memorials may be made to Hamilton Community Foundation, 1216 L Street, Aurora, Nebraska 68818.
He was born Jan. 9, 1913, in a farm house north of Pilger, to Emory Lee Jones and Margaret Rennick Jones. He grew up in the Pilger area, graduated from high school and married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Helen Beatrice Carson in Glidden, Iowa on May 30,1931. They had three boys, Donald, Leland and Larry Jones. They also raised their niece, Kathy Livingston.
Boyd was involved in many occupations during his life: a grocer, butcher and meat locker owner, proprietor of the Appleby Motel in the Big Thompson Canyon in Colorado, settling finally on real estate, farm management and insurance. He co-founding the Jones Agency with son Larry in Aurora in 1961. He retired at 72.
Beginning in 1976, he and wife Helen spent many years “snow-birding” in Sun City, Ariz. They moved to Sun City permanently in 1998.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen; son Donald Jones; and great-granddaughter Helen Jones.
Survivors include two sons, Leland (Valerie) Jones of Kalispell, Mont. and Larry D. (Beverly) Jones of Estes Park, Colo.; and daughter-in-law Joan R. Jones, wife of Donald Jones of Carroll, Iowa; niece Kathy (Joe) Larson of Potter; grandchildren of Don Jones family: Carolyn Jones, Laurie Vasquez, Susan Semla, Philip Jones, Elizabeth Jones; grandchildren of Leland Jones family: Daniel Jones, Andrew Jones, Debbie Bridge, Stephanie Ellis; grandchildren of Larry Jones family: Michelle Jones and Michael Jones; grandchildren of Kathy Larson family: Angie Parde and Shauna Baker; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He brightened the corner where he lived with his love, kindness and gratitude for his blessings and long life.
