Doris Klute - March 08, 2013

Doris Klute, 84, of Hampton, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at York General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at Zion Lutheran Church northeast of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, 1511 North Y Road, Hampton. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Doris Marie Klute, daughter of Martin and Merna (Splittgerber) Wall, was born in Hampton on Jan. 13, 1929.
She grew up on a farm near Hampton. Doris attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Hampton High School. Doris attended secretarial school in Omaha. She worked at York Cold Storage as a secretary for several years.
Doris was united in marriage to LaVern Klute on Sept. 23, 1951, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton. They raised five children: Ann, Joyce, Dean, Mark and Kay. Doris lived her entire life in Hampton.
Doris was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League where she held local and zone offices. Doris served as choir director for 17 years, wrote the “Zion Parish News” for 25 years and was accompanist for the Zion Christmas program for many years. Doris was a 4-H leader for many years and volunteered at Hampton Lutheran School. She had been a member of the York Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Roger and Donald Wall.
Survivors include her husband, LaVern Klute of Hampton; five children, Ann (Craig) Hansen of Lincoln, Joyce Klute of Omaha, Dean (Sharon) Klute of Hampton, Mark (Melanie) Klute of Hampton and Kay (Marlynn) Dexter of Boonville, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Shauna (Garry) Elstun, Chad (Amy) Hansen, Sheila (Evan) Mays, Kendra (Josh) Betz, Kyle (Lauran) Klute, Kelsey Klute, Derek (Jennifer) Klute and Katelyn (Coleman) Goertzen and 18 great-grandchildren, Haley, Lannie, Grant, Holdyn, Carson and McKenley Elstun, Cobe, Ty and Jack Hansen, Lucas Hansen, Olivia, Macy and Mallory Mays, Adelyn and Owen Betz, Evan Pankoke, Atleigh Klute and Katie Kuntz.
She is also survived by her two brothers, Ed (Anita) Wall and Dale (Susan) Wall, all of Hampton.
