Virginia Geu - February 11, 2013

Virginia Geu, 77, of Aurora, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Pastor Sheryl Kester Beyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 415 South 18th Street in Aurora. Family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or the Hamilton Community Foundation-Scholarship Fund. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at
Virginia Mae Geu, daughter of Harry Gerhard Edward and Ida Annie (Schulz) Schultz, was born in Spencer on May 26, 1935.
She grew up in Wisner and graduated from Wisner High School Class of 1953, where she was valedictorian.
On June 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Herbert Herman Geu at Wisner. They raised six children and resided in Lexington until 1984, when they moved to Aurora. Virginia worked at the Leadership Center for 21 years. Herb died June 19, 1998.
Virginia was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, the Hamilton Community Foundation Board, Senior Center Board and Thrivent Financial for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include her three sons, Charles (Anne) Geu of Davenport, Fla., David (Cindy) Geu of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas (Nancy_ Geu of San Marcos, Calif.; three daughters, Teresa (Dale) Haack of Madison, Janet (Chuck) Warner of Castroville, Texas, and Susan (Pat) Margritz of Lexington; two sisters, Marianne (George) Schweers of Alamogordo, N.M. and Delores Schultz of Sun City, Calif.; two brothers, William Schultz of Omaha and Richard ‘Jake’ (Stephanie) Schultz of Eureka, Calif.; brother-in-law, Elmer Geu of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and special nieces, nephews and friends.
