Jeremy Markussen - February 04, 2013Jeremy Lee Markussen, 39, of Kearney, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at his home in Kearney.
Services were Thursday at Kearney First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Main officiating.
Mr. Markussen was born Nov. 7, 1973 in Grand Island to John and Phyllis (Carlson) Markusson.
He grew up in Wood River and received his education at Wood River High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College and later his masters from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
He married Robyn Ross in Columbus on Dec. 23, 1995. They made their home in Kearney where Jeremy was employed as a licensed mental health practitioner at the Kearney Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center.
He was a member of the Kearney First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, computer and spending time with his boys.
Survivors include his wife, Robyn; two sons, Zachary and Hayden Markussen of Kearney; mother Phyllis Markussen and stepfather Brito Mutunayagan of Kearney; a brother, Jay (Michelle) Markussen) of Duncan Lakes; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and JoEllen Ross of Aurora; aunts Mary Gwen and Vince Zaby of Dallas, Texas and Cleetis and Bernie Miller of Grand Island; uncle Fred (Felicia) Markussen of Vail, Ariz. and Dennis (Janelle) Carlson of Shelby; sisters-in-law, Shawna (Brian) Blase and family of Hordville and Kelly (Kent) Pettygrove and family of Waco.
He was preceded in death by his father, John; and grandparents Keith and Avis Markussen and Wendell and Ruth Carlson.
