Roger Johnson - January 09, 2013

Roger Johnson, 82, of Minden, died on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Bethany Home in Minden.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 11, at the First Christian Church in Minden with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.
Roger was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Holdrege to J.W. and Vera (Moore) Johnson. He grew up in the Bertrand-Holdrege area and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1948.
On Oct. 21, 1951, he married Luanne Christensen and they made their home in Holdrege for 13 years. In 1964 they moved to Minden. Roger worked for Wolfe’s IGA, had the Meadow Gold Milk route, managed the Pioneer Village Restaurant and then worked for Baldwin Filters until retiring in 1999.
Roger was a member of the First Christian Church in Minden. He loved spending time with all his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Roger was an avid sports fan and looked forward to Husker football. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Hone Home, First Christian Church or Asera Care Hospice.
Survivors include his son, Matt (Jan) Johnson of Hampton; two daughters, Deb (Phil) Olson of Minden and Sarah (Mike) Scott of Burwell; eight grandchildren, Scott (Jennipher) Olson, Luke and Libby Johnson, Brett Johnson, and Jordan, Jadyn, Bradyn Scott and Robert LooksTwice; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Ryley and Joslyn Olson; mother, Dorothy Johnson of Minden; two brothers, Gary Johnson of Denver and Larry Johnson of Omaha; three sisters, Patricia (Keith) Osborne of Littleton, Colo., Barbara (Don) Bartek of Wahoo and Marilyn (Leon) Langemeier of Billings, Mont.; brother in-law, Norris Christensen of Minden and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luanne, parents, two sisters in-law, Rita Johnson and Norma Christensen and nephew, Jim Christensen.
