Georgia Strotman - January 06, 2013Georgia Strotman, 90, of Grand Island passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Rev. Dennis Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, with the Rosary at 7 p.m. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Georgia Ann Strotman, daughter of George and Anna (Franzen) Becker, was born at Exeter on Dec. 26, 1922.
She grew up in the southern part of York County, near Exeter. Georgia graduated from Exeter High School and attended the Lincoln School of Commerce for one year. She went to work at the Electric Company Compliance Office in Aurora from the fall of 1942 until August 1947.
Georgia was united in marriage to Gene J. Strotman on Aug. 12, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. They farmed just 1-1/2 miles east of Aurora. Georgia and Gene retired in 1988 and moved to Grand Island.
Georgia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, where she was involved in the Altar Society and teaching CCD classes. Later on Georgia, she became involved in genealogy that led to many trips for her and Gene gathering information.
She was preceded in death by her parents
Survivors include her husband Gene Strotman of Grand Island; two children, David (Linda) Strotman and Shari (Randy) Asher all of Aurora; three grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Peabody of Plattsmouth, Matthew (Niki) Strotman of Bennington and Sara (Adam) Darbro of Aurora; five great-grandchildren, Blake Peabody, twins, Sam and Luke Strotman, Riley and Calan Darbro and her sister, Margie Dobesh of Kearney.
