Marian Nelson - December 28, 2012

Marian Nelson, age 94, of Aurora, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church. Marian Hurst Nelson, the daughter of Melvin L. and Myrtle (Bennett) Hurst, was born in Waco, Neb., on April 12, 1918 and passed away in Aurora, Neb., on Dec. 28, 2012, at the age of 94.
She attended country school at Waco until the family moved to Aurora in February 1930. Marian continued her schooling and graduated from Giltner High School in 1936.
On June 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Irving B. Nelson at Aurora. In January of 1940, they moved to California, where Irving worked in an aircraft plant until the end of the war. In October of 1946, they returned to Nebraska and began farming from 1947 to 1979, when they retired and moved into Aurora. Irving passed away on Feb. 15, 1999.
Marian was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church. She was baptized at the Giltner Christian Church on Nov. 27, 1932, before transferring her membership to the Aurora First Christian Church, where she remained a member.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Melvin and three sisters, Marguerite Kleebe, Gladys Keehn and Buelah Schrock.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Karen (Marvin) Tessman of Sutton and Ron (Kay) Nelson of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandsons, Rick (Beccy) Tessman of Clay Center, Todd Tessman of Lincoln and Brian (Darcy) Tessman of Hereford, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Lynn (Dale) Hagedorn of Blair and Ann (Jason) Allen of Seattle, Wash.; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson.
