Sharon Pacaj - December 13, 2012Former Aurora resident Sharon Allegra (Paulsen) Pacaj, 72, of Omaha, died Thursday evening, Dec. 13, 2012 in an Omaha nursing home.
Sharon’s cremated remains will be kept for burial, along with her husband Walt’s, who died Feb. 4, 2012. A celebration of life ceremony and burial for both will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg after the holidays in 2013.
Sharon was born Nov. 10, 1936 in Cordova. As a child, her family later moved to Aurora. She graduated from Aurora High School and later attended North Park College in Chicago, receiving her bachelors degree in education. She taught school for a short time before marrying Wladymir “Walt” Pacaj, a brick masonary expert. They married, settled in Omaha and raised four children.
Walt and Sharon renewed their vows, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on May 11, 1997. They were just shy of their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
Sharon was a long term member of the First Covenant Church in Omaha. She had a keen interest in her family’s Danish heritage, enjoyed home flower gardening, decorating, reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sisters, Marian Paulsen of Salem, Ore. and Sonja (Paulsen) Jackson of Omaha; four children, Christine Pacaj (Roger) Smith of Aurora, Carol Pacaj (Brian) Policky of Bellevue, Povl (Kari) Pacaj of Aurora and Tatianna Pacaj (Chris) Berka of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian Angelo Paulsen and Dagny Ellen (Jensen) Paulsen of Aurora; a sister, Elaine Vivian (Paulsen) Franklin of Aurora and one niece, Sonja Eugenia Jackson of Omaha.
