Dr. Harold M. Pumphrey was a physician, beloved father and grandfather. The son of Dwight and Patricia (Preston) Pumphrey, he was born Aug. 13, 1949 in Aurora, where he attended grade school before moving to Hebron in 1961 for junior high and high school. He earned his B.S. in biology at Nebraska Wesleyan University, then his M.D. at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and finished his residency at the Lincoln Medical Education Foundation in Lincoln. He married Janice Rihn in 1970 and in 1980 he moved back to Hebron to open the newly-created medical clinic and serve as the town’s primary doctor, a role which he filled until 1996 when he accepted a faculty position at LMEF.
Hal’s interest included flying and travel, doing both as much as he was able, but his real passion was for his family. Whatever they loved, he loved.
