Gweneth Elaine Nelson, 78, of York, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at York.
Memorials services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 15, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Terry Cosier officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Gweneth’s wish to be cremated.
She was born Aug. 7, 1934 in rural Jackson, Minn. to Edwill and Violette Muir. She worked for some time for FMHA in Lincoln and Omaha. She was married to David Anderson and later married Marvin E. Nelson on Sept. 1, 1979, in Omaha. Gweneth was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, painting, drawing and traveling. Her greatest joy was her family and she treasured spending time with them.
Survivors include her husband Marvin of York; daughter, Lisa (Emmet) Barta of Hastings; stepsons, Ed (Marilyn) Nelson of Lincoln, Tim (Karen) Nelson of Plattsmouth, and Eric (Laura) Sweeney of rural Phillips; stepdaughter-in-law, Ayu Perwani and husband Mr. C. of Bali, Indonesia. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Joyce) Muir from Florida, Gene (Shirley) Muir of Phoenix, Ariz., and John (Linda) Muir of Big Lake, Minn.; sister, Marion Biermeier of Waterloo, Wisc.; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gweneth in death were her parents; brother, Allen; sister, Janice; and stepson, Craig.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Condolences can be sent to the family at Metz Mortuary, York, is handling arrangements.
