Amos A. Ward - August 25, 2012

Amos A. Ward, 83, of Tacoma, Wash., died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 with his family at his side.
Funeral services were Thursday, Aug. 30, at Fir Lane Memorial Chapel in Spanaway, Wash. He was buried with full military honors at Fir Lane Memorial Park.
Amos was born Jan. 12, 1929 in Headrick Township, Okla., to Robert and Velma (May) Ward. He grew up in Buckeye, Ariz., and joined the United States Air Force in 1947. He served in the Korean War and retired after 20 years of service to his country. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for Boeing for several years. He then worked 17 years at Clover Park School District in Tacoma, Wash., retiring in 1991.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Karen Ward; his children, Rick (Jan) Leth of Cairo, Jim R. (Pat) Leth of Aurora, Ronda (Tim) Goodman of Grand Island, Bryan (Lisa) Ward and Pamela Pratt, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; stepchildren, Walter Hussey and Michele Barnes, both of Tacoma, Wash.; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Red.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, W.J. and Jim; and two sisters, Pauline and Mary.
