Eunice Petersen - May 09, 2009


Former Aurora resident Eunice I. Petersen, 76, of Ravenna died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna. Rev. Micah Gaunt will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements.
Eunice Petersen was born Oct. 30, 1932 in Rapid City, S.D. to Earhard and Una (Harrington) Randolph. She grew up in Pennington County, S.D. and went to country schools through the eighth grade. She graduated from Rapid City High School in 1950.
She married Lyle Petersen on Jan. 10, 1953 in Rapid City. They lived in Rapid City, S.D., York and Aurora. They traveled in a fifth wheel for several years and then moved to Ravenna in 1999.
She worked as a waitress, seamstress, steam presser in cleaners and in a bakery and motel, but mainly a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Dorcas Society.
She and her husband enjoyed volunteering at the Aurora and Ravenna senior centers. She put her seamstress talents to work making costumes for the several Passion Plays held in Ravenna. She also enjoyed acting in plays held at Seneca Sunrise Assisted Living in Ravenna.
Survivors include sons, Carl (Terri) Petersen of Citrus Heights, Calif. and Larry (Joyce) Petersen of Central City; daughter, Linda (Ron) Zinnell of Ravenna, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and two sisters.
