JoAnn Grotzky - August 30, 2012

JoAnn Therese Grotzky, 54, of Grand Island,, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Wedgewood Care Center. 
Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  The Rev. Todd K. Philipsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
JoAnn was born July, 21, 1958, in Grand Island, the daughter of Richard W. & Barbara (Kosmicki) Grotzky.
JoAnn grew up in Grand Island and received her education at Grand Island Central Catholic, and Job Corp at Salt Lake City, UT.  She returned to Grand Island and earned her diploma from CCC in office technology.  JoAnn then assisted with fundraising for various service and fraternal organizations.
JoAnn was a friend to all and loved her family dearly. She especially enjoyed spending time and visiting with her nieces and nephews.  JoAnn loved animals with cats being her favorite. She adored her own kitten, Little Bit. JoAnn enjoyed crocheting and gifted family and friends with her talent. She was also a Husker fan and enjoyed game days.
JoAnn will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, as well as her courage, and determination.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and supported many of the Catholic Charities.  She was also a member of the N.A.M.I. association.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Wayne, and her great niece, Lauren Grace.
Survivors of her immediate family include a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Leigh Grotzky, of Greeley, Colo., and, two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Athey, of Aurora, and, Rose Marie and Curtis Trembley, of Moxee, Wash. Other survivors include her cousin, Tina Valdez and son, Isaac, and her dear friends and caregivers, JoAnn and Charles Everly, and Lacy Stanford, all of Grand Island, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wedgewood Care Center, or The League of Human Dignity.
