Rosella A. Marsh - August 15, 2012

Rosella A. Marsh, 91, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Riverside Lodge, Grand Island.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bill Pavuk officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rosella A. Marsh was born at home, April 18, 1921, at Doniphan, the daughter of William H. and Frieda L. (Obermeier) Sundermeier Jr. She attended rural District #32 of Phillips, graduating from Phillips Consolidated High School with the class of 1937. She further attended Grand Island Business School. She was employed by the Hamilton County AAA Office, Kaufman’s Department Store and the Dairy Queen at the Phillips Interchange during the summers of 1969 to 1972.
She was united in marriage to Willard D. Marsh, March 16, 1943, at the home of her parents in Phillips. The couple farmed near Giltner and Doniphan. In 1978, the couple moved to Grand Island where they retired. Willard preceded her in death in 2007. She remained in her home until October 2011 when she moved to Riverside Lodge.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, participating in the Hannah Circle and volunteering in numerous areas. She was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church. She belonged for many years to the Progressive Homemakers Extension Club and was a member of the Platt Duestche Society. She and her husband were actively involved with 4-H while their children were growing up. She especially enjoyed gardening, embroidery and loved making afghans and quilts for her family.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ivan and Patty Marsh of Giltner, Eldon and Tina Marsh of Gothenburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Lee McComb of Grand Island, one grandson, Gayle and Barbi Marsh, three granddaughters, Christy and Patrick Straka, Launa and Todd Keller, Lisa and Kent Matousek, 14 great grandchildren, one brother, Virgil Sundermeier and a sister, Dorothy Moeller all of Grand Island, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents, husband Willard, a son, LeRoy Marsh and a brother, Merle Sundermeier.
