Alan James Arnold - July 01, 2012Alan James Arnold, 87, of Phillips died Sunday, July 1, at his home in Phillips.
He was born May 5, 1925 in American Falls, Idaho.
Alan grew up in California, completed high school and Maritime Academy. He joined the Navy on Dec. 21, 1941 through June 1953 and served in World War II and Korea.
He married Joann Lee Peterson on June 17, 1956 in Madison, Neb., and just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. He was a stationary engineer at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln for 27 years and lived 32 years in Elmwood before moving to Phillips in 2002. He was creative and did wood work, bead work, latch hook, word search puzzles, reading, listening to music and watching old movies.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; his children Clifton and Laurie Arnold of Littleton, Colo.;, Lillian (Arnold) and Craig Baker of Juniata, Neb., Sharon Arnold and Laura (Arnold/Schmidt) Tindall of Phillips; his grandchildren: Danielle (Schmidt) and Travis Keilig of Saint Edward, Neb., and Clifton Arnold of Littleton, Colo.; and his great grandchildren: Kaytlin and James Keilig of Saint Edward, Neb.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Grand Island with Pastor John Hayes officiating. Arrangement were made through All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, NE.
