Donald P. Hanson, 82, of Aurora, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 15 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Donald Paul Hanson, son of Paul and Julia (Shaneyfelt) Hanson, was born in Aurora on Aug. 23, 1926.
He grew up on the family farm north of Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1947. He attended college at Kearney for one year.
On June 22, 1951, he married Pat Beacom at Aurora. He farmed and was a rural mail carrier for the Aurora Post Office for 44 years.
He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, but especially loved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Pat of Aurora; two sons, Todd (Marlene) Hanson and Mike (Telo) Hanson all of Aurora; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Ryan) Hagler, Jonathan Hanson and fiancé Danielle Johnson, Micah (Jennifer) Hanson, Luke Hanson, Keenan and Krystah Hanson and one great-grandson, Jericho Hagler; one brother, Maylon (Karen) Hanson of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
