Roger Cerveny - March 24, 2012

Roger Allen Cerveny, 67, of Liberty, Mo., died early Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, after his brave battle with cancer.
He was born in Beatrice on Aug. 8, 1944. Roger graduated from Wilber High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy from May 1962 – August 1965 (3 years, 3 months & 28 days.) After returning home from his military service, Roger worked as a sheet metal journeyman for 41 years. He was actively involved in the Sheet Metal Workers Union during his career. He also farmed in the South Central Nebraska area for many years.
Roger was a member and past commander of the Sutton American Legion Post 61 and the Crete VFW Post 4959. He was also a member of the 40 & 8 Post of Hastings.
Roger married Linda Helzer and became the father of two sons. He remarried Jolene Pallas Pavelka. Together, they became a blended family of two sons and three daughters.
For Roger, family was everything. He was loved and will be missed by his wife, Jolene; two sons, Scott (Christina) Cerveny of Aurora, Ross Cerveny and fiancé Brenda of Bellevue; three daughters, Dawn (Aaron) Bresette of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Shelley (Marty) Barney of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Carrie (Tim) Sherno and husband Tim of Minneapolis, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Alexandria, Eleanor, Abigail, Trevor, Amelia, Jonas, Tilly, Deejay, Courtnie, Anniston, Edawna, Braydon, Max and Peter; two brothers, Ken and wife Pat of Lincoln, twin brother Ron and wife Sharon of DeWitt; sister, Zdenka Nelson of Humboldt; many nieces, nephews and cousins; Jolene’s four brothers and two sisters; and countless friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Eleanor Cerveny; brother-in-law John Nelson.
