Shirley Larsen - March 20, 2012Shirley Larsen, 83, of Aurora, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Memorial Community Care.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 23, at the United Lutheran Church in Hampton. Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery. The family will be present at Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made in care of the United Lutheran Church in Hampton.

Shirley Helen Larsen, daughter of John and Dorothea (Redhead) Faber, was born in Hamilton County on May 14, 1928.
She grew up in the Hampton area and graduated from Hampton High School.
Shirley married her childhood friend and sweetheart, A. Laurel Larsen on Sept. 1, 1946. Two children were born to them, Marcia and Marla. They lived on the Larsen family farm that had been in the family for over 100 years. Shirley worked along side with Laurel on the farm. Laurel died on June 18, 2011.
Shirley was a lifetime member of the United Lutheran Church, where she was the church organist for over 50 years. She also was a Sunday School teacher, member of a Bible study and quilting group and was an active member in the E.L.C.W. Shirley was a long time member of the Triple M Extension Club. Shirley was active along with her girls in 4-H. She enrolled them for piano lessons from Judy Sullivan. She loved the winter months that she and Laurel spent in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Jackie Faber and infant grandson.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marcia (Merlin) Fick of Ashland and Marla Ortegren of Grand Island; grandchildren, Brenda and her husband Jim, Stephanie and her husband Kent, Warren and his wife Laura, Todd and his wife Jessie, Renee and her husband Wayne, Ronda and her husband Chad; and 14 great-grandchildren.
