Jan Henk - March 08, 2012Janice Kathryn “Jan” Henk, 75, of Central City, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Central City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.
Jan was born on May 21, 1936, in Harvard to Floyd H. and Velma G. (Lomax) Hoffman. She grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1953. On June 15, 1958, Jan was united in marriage to Duane B. Henk in Aurora. They lived in Aurora for four years and Jan worked at the Hamilton County treasurers office. They then moved to Central City and Jan worked at the Central City Library and was the secretary for the United Methodist Church in Central City.
Jan was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Litzenberg Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Quilter’s Guild. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, reading, going to coffee club with her friends, but her greatest joy came from raising her family.
Survivors include her husband, Duane, of Central City; three daughters, Jacy Lynn Henk and husband Allen Thompson of Aurora, Gail Lynn and husband Rodney Graham of Hastings, and Lisa Lynn Henk and Keith Morse of Kearney; her grandson, Joseph R. Graham of Hastings; and brother, Robert Hoffman of Hutchinson, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Velma Hoffman and her brother, Ronald Hoffman.
