Gloria M. Bamesberger was born June 19, 1943, at York, the daughter of Albert and Dorothea (Kohtz) Dissmeyer.
Gloria was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School in 1961.
On April 14, 1963, she married LaVerne Bamesberger at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton. They lived near Hampton for several years before moving to Marquette.
Gloria was a legal secretary/legal assistant for 44 years, having stayed with the same law firm in Aurora as it made its many changes over the years. She had been an active member of the Nebraska Association of Legal Secretaries and the National Association of Legal Secretaries, having served in various offices and chairmanships. She was named Nebraska Legal Secretary of the Year for 1977.
At Zion Lutheran Church she was a member of the Praise Team and the Women’s Choir. For many years, Zion had a mixed choir that Gloria and her husband, LaVerne, belonged to. She would always offer to bring food for various occasions at church, because she liked to bake and cook.
For the past 30 years, Gloria and LaVerne enjoyed making many craft items and displaying them at various craft shows throughout Nebraska.
As an active member of the community, she was a member of the Baseball Committee, helped organize town-wide garage sales, attended village board meetings trying to find ways to promote the town and better the town, and she was always there if a neighbor needed help.
Gloria was very active with the Marquette Baseball/Softball program and made it a point to know the players names by heart. They meant everything to her and if a team was short of players, she made phone calls to make sure there were enough for a team.
She loved camping and going to lakes with her family and friends to do some water skiing. LaVerne and she taught many people to water ski and one of their students went on to compete in waterskiing.
Gloria was not a quiet person as she always was very straightforward so that people knew where she stood. She loved life, her family and her friends and always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
Christmas was her favorite time of years, and it brought out the child in her. She enjoyed giving gifts more than she enjoyed receiving them. Singing the carols always brought a tear to her eye, especially the song, ‘Silent Night.’
Survivors include her husband, LaVerne of Marquette; one daughter, Robin (Steve) Hansen of Aurora; one son, Craig (Kris) Bamesberger of Omaha; three grandchildren, Mitch Hansen and fiancé Brandi Roehrs, Tara Hansen and special friend, Aaron Heiden and Jake Bamesberger. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys Huebner of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jim Huebner.
