Ruby Piontkowski - February 03, 2012

Ruby Piontkowski, 54, of Aurora, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and chronic pain.
A memorial Mass will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island. Fr. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Ruby Yvonne (Collins) Piontkowski, daughter of Buster and Ruby Pearl (Gibson) Collins, was born in Pampa, Texas on Oct. 2, 1957.
Ruby grew up in Pampa, Texas and attended Pampa High School through her junior year. In her early working years she was an ambulance driver in Pampa and worked in law enforcement in Canadian, Texas.
Ruby was married to Thomas Piontkowski on Dec. 17, 1987 at Amarillo, Texas. They lived in Amarillo for 13 years before moving to Aurora six years ago.
Ruby was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Island and the MS Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Wayne Collins.
Survivors include her husband Tom of Aurora; three brothers, Kenneth Collins of Copperas Cove, Texas, Perry Collins of Port Lavaca, Texas and Buster Collins, Jr. of Scottsboro, Ala.; sister, Susan (Mike) Ballard of Houston, Texas; two half-brothers, Casey Collins and Donald Collins both of Flint, Texas; half-sister, Bobbie Sue Horner of Borger, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
