Bea Traudt - January 29, 2012Beatrice Lillian Fenske Burbach Traudt, 96, of Central City, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora with Rev. Paul Naumann and Robert Pier officiating. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery..Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. also at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bea was born on Dec. 22, 1915, in Martland Twp, Fillmore County, to O.W. and Christine (Bermaster) Fenske, the oldest of three daughters. She attended District 8 School in Fillmore County. The family moved to Sutton in 1929, and she graduated from Sutton High School in 1933. In 1935 she attended the University and started her teaching career at District 12 in Hamilton County. She also taught at country schools in Fillmore County.
She married Reuben A. Burbach on June 7, 1939, in Minden. He died July 29, 1964. She resumed her teaching career in the late 1950s teaching first at a country school in Merrick County and retiring from Central City Public Schools. After many years of summer school and correspondence courses she earned her BA degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
She married Donald M. Traudt on Aug. 29, 1976, in Central City. He died Jan. 27, 1980. After Don died, Bea moved to Aurora where she was active in the Pleasant View Bible Church teaching Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School, and volunteered with Awana and Christian Women’s Club. She delivered mail at the Aurora Hospital and also volunteered at Head Start and was known as Grandma Bea. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Rose.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jean Burbach of Central City; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dale Cantrell of Topeka, Kan.; grandchildren, Richard Cantrell of Topeka, Kan., Reuben (Kristen) Burbach of Carbondale, Colo., Paul II (Brooke) Burbach of Fullerton, Sara Burbach-Raley of Lincoln, Maggie Burbach of Colby, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Payton, Riley, and Quinnley Burbach all of Carbondale, Colo., Tristen, Blake, Preston and Addie Burbach of Fullerton; a sister, Doris Miles of Lincoln; step-children, Dona Jo (Bob) Pier of Aurora and Dee (Sandie) Traudt of Roberts, Wisc.; step-grandchildren, Brett Pier; Jacalyn (Michael) Eisenzimmer, of Farmington, Minn., Andrea Traudt, of Chicago, Ill.; step great-grandchildren, Dennie Bolles, and Drew and Riley Eisenzimmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a half brother, Leonard Fenske, and a sister, Gretchen Hietbrink.
