Gladys Grigsby - January 10, 2012

Gladys Grigsby, 88, of Aurora, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Hamilton Manor.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Central City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary.

Gladys Dinah Grigsby, the daughter of Nels and Olga (Jorgensen) Nelsen, was born at Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 29, 1923.
Gladys graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs. She worked for a short time following school in Council Bluffs.
Gladys married Albert Grigsby on Dec. 29, 1945 in Topeka, Kan. They moved to Marquette. Gladys worked in Grand Island at several cafés. In Aurora, Gladys worked at the Larson Rest Home and Bethesda Care Home for 25 years. She also worked at the family business, Grigsby Sand and Gravel. Albert passed away on June 9, 1989. Gladys lived in Marquette until 2007 when she moved to Aurora.
Gladys enjoyed the Red Hats. She liked working with plastic, embroidering and making many other crafts. Gladys enjoyed circle the word, playing bingo and she loved to visit with all of her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; infant daughter, Diane Lynn; sisters, Helene Rodgers and Dorothy Chase; brothers, Ray and Lenoard Nelsen and son-in-law, James Moore.
Survivors include her three daughters, Judy Moore of Marquette, Jane (Dalbert) Kurz of Palmer and Joyce (Tom) Collingham of Aurora; nine grandchildren, Curtis (Sue) Moore, Jacky Moore, Donna Moore, Devon (Suzanne) Kurz, Lance (Andrea) Kurz, Jason (Erin) Kurz, Corrie (Jeff) Carver, T.J. Collingham, Aaron (Ann) Collingham; 14 great-grandchildren, Sam and Addison Moore, Emilyn, Brecklyn and Braylon Kurz, Conner Kurz, Shelbie and Abby Collingham, Wyatt, Alex and Morgan Collingham and Caden and Aubrie Carver and Carleigh Kurz; four step-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Kyanne Bowden and Leslie Kasson; sister-in-law, Betty (Marvel) Land; brother-in-law, Jerome (Bill) Grigsby; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
