Loren Oberg - January 01, 2012

Loren Earl Oberg, 60, of Stromsburg, died Jan. 1, 2012 at York General Hospital in York.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Brenda Pfeifly officiating. Burial will be in the Swede Home Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola has been entrusted with arrangements.
Loren was born May 27, 1951 to Robert Edward and Vera Victoria (Samuelson) Oberg in Stromsburg. He attended Stromsburg schools graduating from Stromsburg High School in 1969. On Oct. 28, 1972 he was united in marriage. To this union two daughters were born. Loren then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln receiving his bachelor’s degree in agri-business in 1974. Upon graduating he began working for Farm Credit Services of America. Over his 37 years of employment he worked in Beatrice, Auburn, York and Grand Island. Loren also farmed his entire life.
On Dec. 5, 1992 he was united in marriage to Sherry A. (Elkins) Anderson at Swede Home. To this union one daughter was born. In 1993 they moved to their home west of Stromsburg.
Loren was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home and after moving back to Stromsburg he joined Salem Lutheran Church. He was a member of Sertoma, Optimists, York Corn Growers and the York Jaycees.
Farming was his main hobby which he loved and enjoyed.
Survivors include his wife Sherry of Stromsburg; children Sarah (Sam) Auld of Kearney, Lisa Oberg and fiancé Luke Whitefoot of Waverly, Amber (Ryan) Scheer of Lincoln, Cole (Joni) Anderson of Lincoln, and Laura Oberg of Stromsburg; two step-grandchildren; brother Lynn (Janice) Oberg of Stromsburg; sister LuAnn (Daniel) Damewood of Lincoln; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, especially his many close customers over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Vera Oberg; brother Landin Oberg; and stepson Tyler Anderson.
