Bertha Schultz - December 18, 2011

Bertha Mae “Bert” Schultz,, 86, of Superior, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society in Superior.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin with Pastor Evelyn Phillips officiating. Burial will in the Spring Creek Cemetery at Ruskin.

Bert was born was born Nov. 1, 1925 in Mount Clair to Harry and Lora (Harris) Shaw.
Bert was one of eight children. She graduated as Valedictorian from Nelson High School in 1942, and attended Hastings College for one year. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Ruskin.
She was united in marriage to Edwin J. Schultz on September 11, 1949 at Nelson, and to this union three children were born, Teresa, Larry and Pam. On Jan. 8, 1950 she was confirmed at the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor Immanuel Petersen.
Bert was the bookkeeper for the Village of Ruskin, vacation Bible school director, Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader choir director and member of the ladies chorus and bridge club. She enjoyed playing her favorite game of solitaire. Her tea rings were the talk of the town and found at her table every Sunday morning. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and music. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to her.
She lived in the communities of Nebraska communities of Nelson, Ruskin and Superior and also Formoso, Kan. She entered the Good Samaritan Society on January of 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lora Shaw; grandson, Johnathon Gerberding; son-in-law, Ken Gerberding; brothers, Rodber, Myrl, Harry Jr., Wray and Ben Shaw and sisters, Elizabeth Meyer, and Virginia Schleufer.
Survivors include her husband Edwin of Superior; daughter Teresa (Doyle) Christensen of Superior; son Larry Schultz (Jodie) Schultz of Superior; and daughter Pam (Tim) Tyma of Aurora; seven grandchildren: Matt (Missy) Schultz, Marc (Robbyn) Schultz, Darcie Christensen, Marti (Bryce) Blecha, Brett Christensen, Brock Christensen, Sharisa Tyma; six great-grandchildren: Bladen Blecha, Garrett Schultz, Tripp Schultz, Brinleigh Blecha, Bishop Blecha and Morgan Schultz; sisters-in-law Muriel Shaw of Elkhorn, Wisc. and Geraldine Witt of Lincoln; brother-in-law Keith (Heral Jean) Schultz Superior and sister-in-law JoAnn (Cork) Renz of Deshler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
