LaVerda Miller - December 09, 2011

LaVerda Miller, 79, of Aurora, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18, at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
LaVerda Mae Miller, daughter of Victor August and Alma Wilhemina (Matthes) Dadey, was born at Hampton on Feb. 2, 1932.
LaVerda grew up in the Bradshaw area, where she graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1951.
She was united in marriage to Donald Miller on May 18, 1952 at Aurora. LaVerda worked at Memorial Hospital for 18 years as a dietary aid.
LaVerda was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She had a strong love for flowers and it remained strong until her death. LaVerda enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Don Miller of Aurora; three sons, Rick (Sherri) Miller of Aurora, Russell (Tara) Miller of Phillips and Duane (Laurie) Miller of Lincoln; four daughters, Linda (Rob) Glahe of Wheaton, Ill., Kathy (Cliff) Lawton of Aurora, Marcia Miller of Aurora and Shelly (Matt) Schultze of Overland Park, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a brother, Ed Dadey of Marquette and a sister, Geraldine Welsh of Pharr, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Leland Miller and grandson Derek Schultze.
