Larry Mason - December 06, 2011Larry Lisle Mason, 74, a lifelong resident of Central City, died at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Central City Cemetery.

Larry was born on April 1, 1937, at his grandmother’s home in Central City to Lisle L. and Sophie M. (Zlomke) Mason. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1955. On Nov. 10, 1956, Larry was united in marriage to Lois I. Roumpf at the Baptist Church in Central City. They made their home and raised their family in Central City. Larry worked for Wilson Concrete in Grand Island, the Chapman Elevator, Schmader Electric in Grand Island, Knight Brothers Construction in Chapman, he was an over-the-road trucker, and retired from Bonnavilla in Aurora in 1999. After his retirement, he helped his son, Kirk, in his construction business.
Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Eagle’s Club in Central City. He enjoyed playing cards and dice, karaoke, pool and bowling and had belonged to leagues. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. His greatest enjoyment came from the time he spent with his family and grandchildren and their families.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Central City; eight children, Kirk (Krissy) Mason of Portland, Ore., Kerry (Mitch) Price of Wood River, Kayln (Carl) Shively of Clarks, Kathy (Rick) Davidson of Grand Island, Kevin (Jan) Mason of Aurora, Kristie (Tom) Grandfield of Hoskins, Karla (Jim) Jensen of Chapman, and Kelly (Denise) Mason of Kronborg; one son-in-law, Gerry Shively of Fullerton; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and he was anticipating the birth of two more great;grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Mason of Mt. Holly, S.C. and Rodney (LaVonne) Mason of Sacramento, Calif.; and one sister, Diane (Joe) Vela of Tracy Calif.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kim Shively in 2009; grandson, Zachary Pavlik; granddaughter, Ashley Mason Grimes; and two sisters, Delores Norgard and Carol Rauer.
