Rosella Person - November 24, 2011Rosella Marie Person, 81, of Central City, formerly of Hordville, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.
Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk with Rev. Kurt Letcher officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Burial is in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rosella was born in Hordville on April 3, 1930, to Emil and Hulda (Schnackenberg) Wilshusen. She received her education in Polk, graduating from Polk High School in 1948. On June 26, 1949, Rosella was united in marriage to Wayne “Bud” Person at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk. They farmed in Hamilton County until their retirement in 1998. They moved to Central City and Bud and Rosella worked at Solt Funeral Home. Bud died on Aug. 23, 2008.
Rosella was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk and was active in the Ladies Aid; and she was a charter member of the Merry Mothers Extension Club. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, flowers, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include her five sons, Jim and Joyce of Lincoln; Dave and Connie of Polk; Rich and Karla of Hordville; John and Rose of Columbus; and Bob and Julie of Polk; 15 grandchildren, Darin and Jen Person; Brett Person; Michael Person; Stacy and Joe Dexter; Dan Person; November and Nick Schonlau; Lindsay and Jesse Hengelfelt; Austin and Sarah Person; Amy Person; Matt Person; Evan Person; Jesse and Jack Person; Hannah and Sarah Person; five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Brynn Person, Avery and Callie Hengelfelt, and Macie Jo Dexter; one sister, Annette Schulze of Central City; stepsister, Lorraine Mundt and stepbrother, Lester Henning both of Crete.
Rosella was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant daughter, Barbara; two sisters, Louise Blase and Doris Roehrs; brother, Kenneth Wilshusen; and an infant brother.
