Dwight Fassnacht - October 22, 2011

Dwight A. Fassnacht, 79, of Fairmont, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at York.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in McCool Junction. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at McCool Junction. Memorials may be directed to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. There will be no viewing or visitation.

He was born Oct. 11, 1932, in York County, to Harley R. and Bertha (Roemer) Fassnacht. He graduated from McCool Jct. High School in 1950 and later served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Margel Walter on Aug. 3, 1974 at McCool Jct.
Dwight was a lifelong farmer and cattle breeder in the Fairmont area. He was a lifetime member of the Aberdeen Black Angus Association which his family had belonged to since 1917. He was a member of the Fairmont Clown Club and an avid brandy snifter collector. He also enjoyed playing cards and square dancing.
He is survived by his wife Margel of Fairmont; son Tom (Marlys) Roe of Webster City, Iowa; daughters, Diane (Kent) Chrisman of York and Connie (Dan) Hall of McCool Junction, and Dr. Su Hunter of Alachua, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ramer (Iola) Fassnacht of Hampton, and Harley Paul (Jo) Fassnacht of Aurora; two sisters, Byrdene Thompson of Perry, Iowa and Naomi Fassnacht of Fairmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother Wallace, and sister Louise Hasenkamp.
