Kathryn Johnson, 57, a longtime Aurora resident, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at Aurora
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at Higby-McQuiston Chapel, Aurora. The family requests casual dress for the service. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.
Kathryn Johnson, daughter of Wallace and Helen (Reardon) Pohl, was born in York on Feb. 5, 1954. She attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School in Hampton and graduated from Hampton High School, where she met her future husband, Gary Johnson. On Aug. 16, 1975 she and Gary were married. There were two children born to this union, Braden and Christa.
Kathryn was a third generation antiques dealer who loved attending auctions and garage sales. She owned Prairie Antiques and sold her merchandise through the family-owned Heartland Antique Mall in Grand Island, where she was also employed.
She was a member of the Girl Scouts for over 30 years, and served as a troop leader and camp director at Beaver Camp near Hampton. She served also on the Scout Council for several years. She was a talented and creative individual and leaves many traces of this ability for her family and friends to cherish in her memory.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her husband Gary, with whom she shared a wonderful life; her son, Braden of Lincoln; her daughter, Christa Johnson of Denver Colo.; her mother, Helen of Hampton; her brother James of Grand Island; and a lifetime full of relatives and friends.
