Daniel Otto - October 05, 2011

Daniel Eric Otto, 54, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011.
Dan’s remains will be committed to the ocean off the Oregon coast. An informal memorial service will be planned for close friends and family at a later date.
He was born March 28, 1958.
Three things automatically come to mind when describing Daniel Otto: Original, patriot, survivor.
Dan was an original -- He grew up on the Otto farm near Bradshaw. He was no stranger to hard work; equally adept using his hands as well as his mind. Dan was the most knowledgeable and well-read person you could know. Pick any subject, and Dan could hold his own with any expert on the matter being discussed.
Dan was a patriot -- He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy for 12 years, achieving rank of E-6 and traveled the world while in the Navy. Dan was the kind of guy who never met a stranger and would help whoever needed it, unasked.
Dan was a survivor -- The road Dan traveled in life was not conventional. However, whatever the circumstance, whatever the misfortune, Dan never gave up, made the best of many bad situations and always came out the other side -- where many others would have given up. Above all, when Dan passed away, he was square with the house.
Daniel is survived by brothers Michael Otto, Douglas Otto, David Otto and Mark Otto; and sisters Patricia Otto and Mary Otto. Daniel is predeceased by his mother Mary Otto and father W.H. Otto.
