Betty Lind - September 30, 2011

Betty Y. Lind, 71, of York, died Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at York.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Sunday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in York or Adopt-a pet in York.
She was born Aug. 28, 1940 at Marquette to Vern and Virginia (Torell) Berck.
Betty was united in marriage to Larry Lind on July 26, 1959 at Stromsburg.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in York. Betty worked for NPPD for 25 years, several years at the True Vine in York, and currently at Ameriprise Financial in York. She sold Avon products for a number of years as well. She was the president of the United Methodist Women, active in the Sunday school and was on the Board of Directors of Epworth Village.
Betty enjoyed gardening, crafts, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Betty, or as she was known to family and friends as ‘Lean Mean Momma’ or ‘Betty Boop,’ was also well known for her famous “peanut butter pie.”
Survivors include her husband Larry of York; son Mark Lind and special friend Sylvia Batts of Houston, Texas; daughter Lauri (Bruce) Reinhardt of Lincoln; grandchildren, Emily and Eric Reinhardt of Lincoln, Samantha Kathol of Mustang, Okla. and Tabitha (Kenny) Podrazik of Grimes, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Grace Bernadt of Lincoln, Ben Kathol of Mustang, Okla., and Ethan Podrazik of Grimes, Iowa; her mother Virginia Berck of Stromsburg; two brothers, Vaughn (Beverly) Berck of Hampton and Burdette (Delores) Berc of Gresham; two sisters, Twyla (Richard) Hughes of Grand Island and Nola (Monty) Henkel of Broomfield, Colo.
Preceding her in death were her father; infant daughter Barbara Kay; daughter-in-law Shirley; and sister-in-law Janet Berck.
