Charles Reeves - September 21, 2011

Charles Evans Reeves, 63, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at his home in Central City.
Graveside memorial services will be Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Central City Cemetery with Rev. Doug McHargue officiating with full military rites by American Legion Post Six. A time of remembrance will be held at Solt Funeral Home in Central City on Monday, Sept. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at
Charles was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Central City to Bob and Alnetta (Cundiff) Reeves. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1966 and then received his degree in diesel technology from Hastings Technical School. Charles was a decorated veteran, having served in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy from July 17, 1968 until his honorable discharge on Nov. 11, 1970. He returned to Nebraska and worked in Hordville at the United Coop and in Central City for Houdek Implement.
On Feb. 13, 1973, Charles was united in marriage to Gail G. Widga. They made their home in Central City and in 1979, they moved to the family farm. Charles farmed and worked for NAPA in Central City. In the early 1990s, he moved to Grand Island and was service manager for Greenline Equipment until 2005. For several years he lived in Arkansas and then returned to Central City in 2009 to be closer to family due to his failing health.
Charles was a member of the American Legion Post Six in Central City, was a member of AA since 1979, enjoyed golf and anything to do with farming.
Survivors include his children, Jason Reeves of Omaha; Nick and Tiffany Reeves of Omaha; and Katrina “K.T.” and Steve Bescheinen of Union; four grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Dorothy and Carroll Flavell of Elba; Doug and Beverly Holm of Planterville, Texas; Linda and Bub Cordsen of Central City; and Dennis and Teri Reeves of Park Hill, Okla.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Robert Reeves; niece, Jerri Olsen; and nephew, Bill Joyner.
