Barry Wayne Snyder, 47, of Brookfield, Mo., formerly of Marquette, died at his home in Brookfield on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Brookfield with Rev. Mike White officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at Mamre Evangelical Free Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Stearns officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 6 in Central City. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the local arrangements. Barry was born Sept. 24, 1963, at Kirksville, Mo., to Ron and Tressia (Ashenfelter) Snyder. After completing his education, Barry served in the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps. He was stationed on several continents and was a veteran of Desert Storm.
On Sept. 12, 1998, Barry was united in marriage to Marni Nelson at Mamre Evangelical Free Church near Marquette. They made their home near Marquette and Barry worked at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and he doted on his two daughters.
Survivors include his daughters, Noa Renae and Zoe Mae Snyder both of Marquette; his parents, Ron and Tressia Snyder of Brookfield, Mo.; two brothers, Brady and Brent Snyder both of Brookfield, Mo.; sister, Brenda (Kevin) Allen of Marceline, Mo.; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
Barry was preceded in death by his grandpartents, Loren and Ruth Snyder and Walter and Lillie Ashenfelter.
