Alyssa Sandmeier - September 01, 2011

Alyssa Jane Sandmeier, 10, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, after a six year courageous battle with leukemia.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Private burial will follow for immediate family only. There will be no visitation. Alyssa was born April 17, 2001, in Charlottesville, Va, and died at home in Aurora. Alyssa was born in Virginia, but moved with her family to Nebraska in 2005. She loved horses, puppies, kitties, sewing, writing, reading, and drawing. Most of all, Alyssa loved Jesus. She was always attuned to His presence in her life and constantly found her comfort and peace in His Word. Alyssa’s family was truly blessed to have been given the gift of her presence in their lives.
Survivors include her parents, Joe and Jill Sandmeier; her best friend and younger brother, Jacob Sandmeier; grandparents Dennis and Bett Cumpston of Grand Island, and John and Dorothy Sandmeier of Omaha; aunts, uncles, and cousins Josh and Allene Cumpston (Katie, Trevor, and Tyler) of Central City, Trent and Jenny Hansen (Andrew, Tyler, and Addison) of Windsor, Colo., Josh and Nikki Sandmeier (Landon) of Omaha, and Derric and Julie Raymond (Aaliyah, Derric, Nehemiah) of Moberly, Mo. She also leaves behind honorary uncle and aunt, Nick and Nicole Owens (Kaitlyn, Sydnee, Grayce, Mackenson, and Kendrick) of Aurora, along with many special friends, classmates, teachers and neighbors.
