Curt Mingus - August 18, 2011

Curt Mingus, 52, of Aurora, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22 at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. Rev. Bill Sterns will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Curtis Jay Mingus, son of John S. and Delores June (Bernet) Mingus was born at Grand Island on Aug. 5, 1959.
Curt grew up in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1977. He began his career working at New Holland in Grand Island for several years and then went to work for Orkin for 10 years. For the last 15 years, Curt worked at the P&G Pet Food plant north of Aurora.
Curt was blessed with a daughter, Amber from his marriage to Kathy Turek.
Curt was united in marriage to Cindy Larson on Aug. 30, 1986 and two children were born to this union, Keith and Amy.
Curt loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed listening to his 70s Rock and Roll and talk radio. Curt was a huge Nebraska football fan. He was known for his one-liners and dry sense of humor. Curt loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Tyler Larson.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy of Aurora; three children, Amber (Chris) Zimmerman of Madison, Wisc., Keith Mingus of Grand Island and Amy Mingus of Aurora; grandson, Cameron Zimmerman of Madison, Wisc.; mother, Delores Mingus of Ravenna; two brothers, Craig (Teresa) Mingus and Dan (Denise) Mingus all of Ravenna; nieces and nephews, Paul and Adam Mingus, Kelsie and Ryan Mingus and Riley Larson. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Maraldine Larson of Marquette and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Nancy Larson of Hampton.
