Elberta Mankin - July 29, 2011

Elberta L. Mankin, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Trumbull, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society-Grand Island Village, with her family by her side.
A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Private family burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Trumbull.
Elberta was born Aug. 27, 1917, near Trumbull, to Charles and Anna (Perry) Turner.
Elberta was united in marriage to Dean Mankin on June 23, 1940. She lived near Trumbull until she moved to Grand Island in 1990.
Elberta was a member of the Trumbull United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 4-C Club and Eastern Star. She was an avid fan of sports and horse racing. She was a homemaker, gardener, 4-H leader and caregiver to everyone. Above all Elberta was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, Gordon (Pat) Mankin of Arizona and Stanley Mankin of Trumbull; her daughters, Eldeen Watson of Grand Island and Roberta (Bob) Cool of Aurora; and two sisters, Dorothy Wood and LaVerne Bish, both of Lincoln. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Izona Best of Virginia, Roena Manschreck of Idaho, Dorothy Mankin of Hastings and Virginia Turner of Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, on April 23, 1977; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Janice (Pember) Mankin; five brothers and three sisters.
